Stodden is a vegetarian, because it “never felt right eating animals before”, as well as lactose intolerant, as explained in a Couples Therapy bonus clip. It was further clarified in 2014 it was not lactose intolerance, but empathy for animals was the sole reason for vegetarianism. One month prior to filming “Playing By The Rules”, an October 2012 episode of Couples Therapy’s second season. Stodden had attempted to follow a vegan diet, but chose instead to follow a vegetarian diet due to fewer food restrictions. Stodden has promoted the vegetarian lifestyle on PETA’s behalf.
